CAIRO-11 February 2021: Al Ahly will take on Brazilian giants Palmeiras on Thursday afternoon in the FIFA Club World Cup bronze medal match at Education City stadium.

The Red Eagles aim to repeat their success of 2006 when they clinched the bronze medal after defeating CONCACAF champions, Club America of Mexico.

Al Ahly failed to reach the final after losing 2-0 to the European champions, Bayern Munich, while Palmeiras lost to Tigres UANL 1-0.

Al Ahly will miss the efforts of their wingers, Mahmoud Kahraba and Hussein El Shahaat, in the match as the Organizing Committee of the competition decided to ban them after violating COVID-19 measures as both players had direct contact with Al Ahly fans after the match against Bayern Munich.

The African champions will appear in the third-place playoff for the third time in history, having won the game in 2006 while they lost to Mexico’s Monterrey in 2012.

The game starts on 5:00 PM.
