CAIRO-13 December 2020: Zamalek opened the Egyptian League season on Saturday night with a 2-0 win over Arab Contractors.

The White Knights delivered a solid performance and managed to dominate the match and stop the quick and strong attacks of their opponents.

Zamalek opened the score after 27 minutes by an own goal, scored by Arab Contractors’ defender Khalid Al Husseiny.

Zamalek’s prolific striker Mostafa Mohamed doubled the score minutes before the final whistle to secure the three points for his team.

“It was a tough game against a big team. It will be a difficult season and we are focusing on getting the three points every match to be able to fight for the title.” Zamalek’s manager Jaime Pacheco said after the match.

This victory pleased the club’s fans, who are not living their best days as the club is dealing with many problems on and off the pitch.

On the pitch, Zamalek lost the CAF Champions League title to their arch-rivals, Al Ahly, on 27 November and were knocked out of the Egyptian Cup semis four days later.

Off the pitch, the club is having multiple changes after the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Dr Asharf Sobhy, dissolved Zamalek Sporting Club’s Board of Directors and the club is being run via an interim committee.
