CAIRO-25 October 2020: Egyptian defender Ahmed Hegazi is close to join Saudi Arabian giants Al Ittihad, according to Filgoal.

Hejazi played a massive role in West Bromwich Albion's campaign to return back to the Premier League but the player failed to earn a starting position in his manager, Slaven Bilic's plan.

Hegazi took the decision to join Al Ittihad after a discussion with Bilic who told the Egyptian that he can't promise a starting position for the defender.

Hegazi will join the Saudi Arabian team on a one-year loan with the option to make the deal permanent. The Saudi club officials are expected to announce the deal in the next few hours.

Since Hegazi joined the club in 2017, he has been a key player in the team and represented the club in 38 Premier League matches in his debut season.

Hegazi is one of the key players in the Egyptian national team and he participated in Egypt's three matches in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Al Ittihad are not having their best time after poor start in the league after losing the first game against Ittifaq while the second match against Al Fateh ended with a draw.
