CAIRO-27 August 2020: Al Ahly's Marwan Mohsen scored a late goal to secure his team's victory over El Gouna in the Egyptian league on Wednesday night.

Al Ahly got back on the right track and the players showed their quality after losing the Derby 3_1 to Zamalek on Friday.

Al Ahly manager Rene Weiler played a 4-2-3-1 system as he decided to keep Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Hany and Hamdy Fathy, who started the game against Zamalek, on the bench and replaced them with Ramy Rabia, Ahmed Fathy and Geraldo.

El Gouna's goalkeeper Eslam Tarik was the man of the first half as he saved Al Ahly's attempts to open the score. Eslam was lucky that Mohamed Magdy Afsha's shot failed to find the back of the net.

Al Ahly had a chance to open the score during the first five minutes of the second half but Afsha's shot was saved by Eslam Tarik.

The game referee Ibrahim Nour El Din sent off Al Ahly's Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng after reviewing the VAR to leave the Red Devils with 10 men on the pitch.

Mohamed El Shenawy saved Al Ahly from conceeding the first goal as he stopped El Gouna's clearest chance from Eslam Mohareb.

The game was going to a goalless draw when Al Ahly substitute Marwan Mohsen received El Shenawy's long ball inside the box and shot the ball in the back of the net to grant his team a late victory.

Al Ahly reached 59 points after 22 games and they are 17 points clear atop of the table.
