CAIRO – 10 January 2020: Barcelona’s director of institutional and sporting relations, Guillermo Amor, revealed on Friday that Ernesto Valverde will keep his position as the club manager, playing down rumors that suggested Valverde to be sacked.

Barcelona lost 3-2 to Atletico Madrid at the Spanish Super Cup semi-finals and they were victims to another comeback as they were leading 2-1 till the last 10 minutes of the game.

“It has bothered us a lot to lose. There are many and very important games. Of this you say about Valverde, there is nothing." Amor told press on Friday.

Koke opened the score for the Los Rojiblancos at the first minutes of the second half but Barcelona’s Lionel Messi needed just five minutes to equalize the score.

VAR saved Atletico as the referee disallowed two goals for Barcelona through Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique which could finish the game.

Despite the VAR decisions. Barcelona scored the second goal through Antoine Griezmann who scored against his former club after he followed a wonderful header from Luis Suarez.

The fans at King Abdullah Sport City Stadium expected the Catalans to dominate the game after the second goal but Los Rojiblancos made a memorable comeback.

Ángel Correa was the hero for his team as he won a penalty for his team which was successfully converted by Alvaro Morata to make the score 2-2 then five minutes later Correa added the third goal for his team to make the score 3-2 and grant his team a ticket to the final.

Atletico will face Real Madrid on Sunday at the final.
