CAIRO – 9 January 2020: Egypt international, Mahmoud Hassan known as Trezeguet, took part in the first leg of Carabao Cup semi-final encounter on Wednesday night at King Power Stadium where Leicester City hosted Aston Villa.

Aston Villa, who are seeking for their first appearance at League Cup Final since 2010, started the game with an attacking line of Trezeguet, Anwar El Ghazi and Jack Grealish while the hosts counted on their regular two strikers, Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Ayoze Perez.

The visitors opened the score after 28 minutes by Frédéric Guilbert who received a wonderful cross from El Ghazi to grant his team the lead.

The second half was a good response from the home team as they equalized the score through their Nigerian substitute, Kelechi Ihenacho.

Both teams failed to add another goal at the remaining minutes and the game ended with a 1-1 draw.

“Overall, I’m really proud of the players to be leaving here unbeaten. It took a lot of hard work, a great defensive display and in all that we gave them a goal as well.” Aston Villa manager, Dean Smith, said after the game.

The two teams will meet at the second leg on 28 January at Villa Park.
