CAIRO – 31 October 2019: Egypt international, Ahmed Elmohamady, had a wonderful night at Villa Park when he scored the winning goal for his team against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Carabao Cup round of 16.

Elmohamady, who captained his team during the game, returned to his team starting line-up after he was excluded from Villa’s last games at the Premier League and he dominated the right flank alongside his Egyptian teammate, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet.

Anwar El Ghazi opened the score for the home team at the first half but Patrick Cutrone equaled the score for the visitors after 10 minutes from the second half.

Elmohamady scored his team winning goal three minutes later as he received a wonderful cross from which he easily found the target.

“We want to finish as high as we can but this is a priority as well. We have a proud history in this cup, we've won it five times, and want to continue to win it more and have days like we had in May at Wembley.” Aston Villa manager, Dean Smith, said after the victory.

On the other hand, Liverpool and Manchester United secured their spot at the quarter finals after defeating Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.

Aston Villa, Liverpool and Manchester United joined the other five qualified teams, Manchester City, Leicester City, Everton, Oxford United and Colchester United.
