One goal was not enough for Boca Juniors to win the pass for the final of the 60th edition of the 2019 Copa Libertadores against the arch-rivals River Plate at La Bombonera.

Under the eyes of Sergio Aguero's son and grandson Diego Armando Maradona, who preferred to encourage Boca Juniors among the crowd, River Plate reached the continental final for the second time in a row.

The win stopped the unbeaten run of River Plate, who have not lost against Boca Junior in the last six continental encounters (won 4 and drawn 2) between 2004 and 2019, but history will not say so.

Marcelo Gallardo continues to affirm his passion for the continental finals, having achieved seven out of 10 continental titles with River Plate, and now on a date with his eighth continental final, and the chance to win the Copa Libertadores for the third time as a 43-year-old coach.

At the dawn on Thursday, the Maracana stadium is set to host the other semi-final between Gremio and Flamengo in a purely Brazilian clash.

River Plate is awaiting to know the identity of their opponent to face on November 23 on the national stadium in the Chilean capital Santiago.
