CAIRO – 3 October 2019: Egypt U-23 team was drawn alongside Mali, Cameroon and Ghana in Group A at 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.

The draw, held on Wednesday night in Alexandria, also resulted in another tough clashes in Group B in which defending champions, Nigeria, were drawn with Zambia, South Africa and Ivory Coast.

Egyptian U-23 national team manager, ShawkiGharib, and his coaching staff will send the final squad before 30 October 2019.

Egypt hosts the competition between 8 and 22 November at two venues in Cairo, Cairo International Stadium and Al Salam Stadium.

The competition initially scheduled in Zambia but they drew and Egypt were announced as new hosts in 2017.

The top three teams will represent the continent at 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games.

Egypt football appeared at the Olympic games 11 times before and their best achievement was the fourth place in 1928 in Amsterdam and 1964 in Tokyo.

Egypt’s last participation at the tournament was in 2012 in London and the national team was eliminated from the competitions at the quarter finals after losing to Japan.
