CAIRO, 22 September 2019:Officials of the five-member committee of the Egyptian Football Association have left the idea of Brazil friendly game to the new coach Hossam El Badry.

Egyptian Football Association, EFA, announced on Thursday that Hossam El Badry will be the new national team manager.

The decision surprised Egyptian football fans as many sources confirmed that IhabGalal was the favorite to take the job.

El Badry to decide whether to play the friendly match or not which will be held next October in Kuwait as part of the preparation of the Pharaohs for the African Nations Cup 2021 qualifiers hosted by Cameroon.

EFA appointed a committee, which includes five members, to choose the next coach for the Egyptian national team after the EFA sacked Mexican manager, Javier Aguirre, following the national team’s early elimination from 2019 Africa Cup of Nations at home.

Egypt was eliminated from the 16th round of AFCON after losing to South Africa 1-0 thanks to a late goal from their winger, ThembinkosiLorch.

El Badry spent his entire career as a footballer inside Al-Ahly and he was one of the team members in the late 70s and early 80s before the injury forced him to retire at 26.

El Badry started his managerial career so early and he joined the first team staff in 2002 to serve as a coach assistant to the club’s historic Portuguese manager Manuel Jose.

El Badry became the club’s first man on Al-Ahly’s bench in 2009 and he is considered the club’s best manager in the last decade as he won four Egyptian League titles, three Egyptian Cup titles, Egyptian Super Cup title and 2012 CAF Champions League title during his three spells at Al-Ahly.

El Badry also managed Libya’s Ahli Tripoli, Sudan’s Al Merrikh and Enppi in Egypt.

On international level, El Badry managed the U23 national team in 2013 but he failed to win qualification to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
