CAIRO –11 September 2019: Egypt's Olympic coach Shawki Ghareb said he was happy to beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the second friendly match they gathered at the Petrosport stadium as the Pharaohs prepare for the 2019 African Nations Cup, which will be hosted by Egypt from 8 to 19 November.

“We are on the right track by playing strong friendlies and building a good team. We have a good generation and everyone is playing for one goal: winning the African U-23 Nations and qualifying for the Olympics.” Shawki Ghareeb told Time Sports channel.

Shawki Ghareeb gave the chance to some players to participate and rest others after reassurance on their level in the first friendly, such as Ahmed Ryan, Salah Mohsen and Omar Radwan.

Egyptian Olympic football team, led by Shawki Ghareeb, insisted to include Zamalek’s player, Mostafa Mohamed, to play in Saudi Arabia friendly game.

Shawki Ghareeb also confirmed that it will be agreed in October next to play two African friendlies in October with two of the seven qualified teams to the the African Nations.

The regulations for the African Nations Championship require seven teams to qualify for the final tournament, as well as host country Egypt, who are divided into two groups.
