CAIRO - 27 August 2019: Al Ahly club officials will decide the file of the new coach during the next few hours after the planning committee intensified its negotiations with more than one coach who has been settled on them and is currently negotiating between them to choose one of them.

Al Ahly planning committee prefers to choose European coach to lead the team in the next period.

Al Ahly appointed planning committee to choose Martin Lasarte’s successor.Al-Ahly announced that they have sacked their Uruguayan manager, Martin lasarte.

The decision comes after Al-Ahly were knocked out of the Egyptian Cup competition as they lost 1-0 to Pyramids.

Al-Ahli officials confirmed that there is a tendency to assign responsibility to a European coach. They may hire someone from South America only in case they found a coach with great potential.

For the second time in the club’s history, Al-Ahly lost three times to one club in a season as Pyramids defeated Al-Ahly twice at the league before defeating them on Saturday night at the cup thanks to a goal from Erik Traore.

Lasarte was appointed as Al-Ahly manager on January, to follow the sacked manager, Patrice Carteron, and since then he led the club in 31 games.

Under Lasarte’s command, Al-Ahly won the Egyptian league title after a fierce competition with their arch rivals, Zamalek but the club was knocked out of the CAF Champions League competition from the quarter finals, having lost 5-1 on aggregate to MamelodiSundowns.

The club did not announce who will succeed Lasarte as the club manager.
