CAIRO - 21 August 2019: A source within Al Ahly Football Club confirmed that the club is looking to sign a foreign striker during the summer transfer window to strengthen the front line before the start of the new season, stressing that the club already has more than one player that has been accepted by the Planning Committee, but the activation of the contract is delayed.

Al Ahly planning committee reviewed the coach position’s candidates’ list to choose one of them in order to lead the team in the next period.

Al Ahly appointed planning committee to choose Martin Lasarte’s successor. Al-Ahly announced on Sunday that they have sacked their Uruguayan manager, Martin Lasarte.

The decision comes after Al-Ahly were knocked out of the Egyptian Cup competition as they lost 1-0 to Pyrmaids.

For the second time in the club’s history, Al-Ahly lost three times to one club in a season as Pyramids defeated Al-Ahly twice at the league before defeating them on Saturday night at the cup thanks to a goal from Erik Traore.

Lasarte was appointed as Al-Ahly manager on January, to follow the sacked manager, Patrice Carteron, and since then he led the club in 31 games.

Under Lasarte’s command, Al-Ahly won the Egyptian league title after a fierce competition with their arch rivals, Zamalek but the club was knocked out of the CAF Champions League competition from the quarter finals, having lost 5-1 on aggregate to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The club did not announce who will succeed Lasarte as the club manager.
