CAIRO –11 June 2017: Manchester City Football Club started preparations for the upcoming season by reshaping their current squad through renewal of some contracts and termination of others.

Manchester City released 5 players after the end of their contract, including Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Jesus Navas and the goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

Manchester City signed 22 year old Bernardo Silva from Monaco for €50 million ($56 million), according to skysports.com. They also signed 23 year old Ederson Santana de Moraes for the backup goalkeeping position from Benfica for €40 million ($45 million). De Moraes will compete with Claudio Bravo for the starting goalkeeper position.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is doing his best to help City fans get over the disappointment of last season. Guardiola is trying to build a young squad to help him bring his ideas onto the pitch. He plans to build strength with experienced players. And, with the renewal of Yaya Toure’s contract, Guardiola wants the team to begin the new season without any of the problems from last season.
