Al Ahly prepare for Pyramids clash in Egypt’s Cup

CAIRO, 13 August 2019: Al Ahly began on Tuesday to prepare for the match against Pyramids FC, scheduled for Saturday evening, in the 16th round of the Egyptian Cup.

The coaching staff Al Ahly club, led by Martin Lasarte, decided to give players rest from training on Monday.

Al Ahly thrashed Atlabara 4-0 in the CAF Champions League start when they met at Borg El Arab stadium on Sunday night.

Al Ahly’s goals came through Ali Maaloul, two goals for WalidAzzarou and Ahmed El Sheikh in the 16, 33, 47 and 93 minutes respectively.



Martin Lasarte’s starting line-up was:
Goalkeepers: Ayman Ashraf
Defense line: Ayman Ashraf, Rami Rabia, Ali Maaloul, Mohamed Hani
Midfielders: Amr El-Soleya, HamdyFathy, Hussein El-Shahat, Ramadan Sobhy, Saleh Gomaa`
Attackers: WalidAzzaro

Al Ahly hasn’t tasted the taste of winning the title since 2013; the Reds reached CAF Champions League Final twice but lost in both games against WydadaCasabalanca& Tunis Esperance Sportive.

The second leg will be held in Egypt as the Reds reached an agreement with Sudanese club to play both games in Egypt. The second leg will be on August 23rd.

Al-Ahly achieved their 41st league title after a fierce competition with arch rivals, Zamalek.

The Reds ended the Egyptian league topping the standings with 80 points, 8 points above their rivals, Zamalek.

Zamalek have been topping the Egyptian league most of the past year but they wasted a lot of points in the last 10 rounds which affected their leadership.
