CAIRO - 29 July 2019: Zamalek board of directors headed by, Mortada Mansour, decided to sack Khaled Galal. He also announced that the club will hire a new foreign coach to lead the team in the following competitions.
Al Ahly succeeded to beat Zamalek 1-0 on Sunday night at Borg El Arab stadium thanks to the left-back Ali Maaloul goal in the 59th minute.

The Reds ended the Egyptian league topping the standings with 80 points, 8 points above their rivals, Zamalek.

Al Ahly & Zamalek started the game with the same line-up which faced Al Mokawlon & Ismaily respectively.

Al Ahly: El Shenawy, Ali Maaloul, Ramy Rabeaa, Ayman Ashraf, Mohamed Hany, Amr El Soleya, Hamdy Fathy, Walid Soliman, Ramadan Sobhy, Hussein El Shahat, Walid Azzarou.

Zamalek: Emad El Sayed, Abdallah Gomaa, Mohamed Abdelghany, Mahmoud Alaa, Hamdy Nagguezz, Tarek Hamed, Ferjani Sassi, Ibrahim Hassan, Mohamed Ibrahim, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Omar Al Saeed.

The first half wasn’t in a top level as both teams were closing all the gaps that may be an opportunity for the opponent to score a goal. In the second half, Ali Maaloul took the lead for Al Ahly after he took advantage of Zamalek’s goalkeeper fault who failed to deal with Walid Soliman’s shot.

Despite the match between the two giants would not change anything, but it was an important game for both teams. Zamalek needed to bring joy to their fans after losing the Egyptian League title. While Al Ahly celebrated with the fans, the Reds didn’t want any surprises that may affect their joy.

Zamalek have been topping the Egyptian league most of the past year but they wasted a lot of points in the last 10 rounds which affected their leadership.

Most of Zamalek fans believe that the club president, Mortada Mansour, is one of the main reasons in losing the Egyptian league title after he sacked the Swiss coach, Christian Gross. Gross led Zamalek to be on the top of the league for almost 9 months, achieved the Egypt-Saudi Super Cup over Saudi club, Al Hilal. He also won the CAF Confederation Cup last May for the first time in Zamalek’s history.
