CAIRO – 8 May 2019: Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde, revealed on Wednesday that he does not have excuses for the 4-0 loss to Liverpool that knocked the team out of the competition.

Barcelona entered the game with three goals advantage and los 4-0 which is a repeat to Barcelona’s elimination from the same competition last year against Roma.

“They were better and we have to accept it, the scoreline was 4-0 and when that's the case there are no excuses. The most painful thing is that this has happened before, it's very painful for us, especially for our fans.” Valverde said after the game.

Divock Origi opened the score for the Reds after only six minutes when he followed Jordan Henderson’s shot to make the score 1-0 for the home team.

After the goal, Barcelona dominated the game and had three chances to score through Lionel Messi but he failed to find the target and the first half ended 1-0.

At the second half, the game took another direction when Georginio Wijnaldum replaced the injured Andrew Robertson.

Wijnaldum scored two goals in two minutes to make the score 3-0 and equalized the tie.

Valverde added “Their second goal hurt us massively and the third one came in straight after that.”

Barcelona players were in shock and their manager, Ernesto Valverde, replaced Philippe Coutinho with Nelson Semedo to control the game.

Origi scored the fourth goal after a trick corner kick from Trent Alexander Arnold to make the score 4-0.

Barcelona failed to create chances to score the goal they needed to win qualification to the final and failed to reach the final for the fourth consecutive year.
