Al-Ahly's delegation arrives in South Africa, performs 1st training

CAIRO - 4 April 2019: Al-Ahly's coaching staff confirmed the readiness of all 21 players called to face South Africa's Sundowns in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.

Al-Ahly is set to face Sundowns on Saturday at 3 p.m. CLT in South Africa in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

The Red Devils' delegation arrived in South Africa on Wednesday night. They performed their first training on Thursday.

Al-Ahly reached the quarter finals after the team topped group D with 10 points from three victories at home over Tanzania’s Simba, Algerian club, JS Saoura and AS Vita Vlub from Congo and they lost two games in Congo and Tanzania while their game against JS Saoura in Algeria with a draw.

On the other hand, Sundowns reached the quarter finals as the runners-up of group A after they gained 10 points, the same as the leaders, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, but the Head-to-head away goals rule granted the the Moroccan team the leadership.

The winner will face the winner between Horoya of Guinea and Wydad Casablanca.

Defenders: Ayman Ashraf - Ali Maaloul - Saad Samir - Ahmed Fathi - Yasser Ibrahim - Mohammed Hani - Mahmoud Waheed - Rami Rabia

Midfielders: Hossam Ashour - Hussein Shehhat - Nasser Maher - Amr Sulayya - Ramadan Sobhi - Karim Walid "Nedved" - Hamdi Fathi

Strikers: Marwan Mohsen - Salah Mohsen - Walid Azaro - Junior Ajayi

Al-Ahly failed to achieve their ninth title at the competition as they lost the last two Champions League finals to Wydad Casablanca and Esperence, respectively.
