CAIRO – 18 February 2019: Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, revealed on Monday that his team can cope with the absence of their defender, Virgil Van Dijk, against Bayern Munich at UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg.

“All the defenders have played so when one comes in and one leaves, we don’t feel that loss because we’re all used to each other,” Alisson said.

The defender picked up three yellow cards at the group stage and he is suspended from the first leg in Liverpool.

The goalkeeper added “The backline are all able to communicate with each other, and know each other really well, is vital for any team.”

Liverpool reached UEFA Champions League final last season and they lost 3-1 to Real Madrid. The team, known as Red, hopes to take advantage from playing the first leg at home to achieve a comfortable victory.

Alisson praised Bayern Munich goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, saying “He is a big reference for me. When we got them in the draw I was pleased knowing I’d be against him.”

The game is scheduled on Tuesday at 10:00 p.m.
