CAIRO – 4 June 2018: Germany national team manager, Joachim Löw, announced on Monday the final squad that will defend the World Cup title in Russia in the summer.

Löw surprised football fans when he dropped the 2018 Premier League champion, Leroy Sane, from the final squad.

Sane, 22, has had a great season with Manchester City leading the club to achieve the Premier League title. Sane was named PFA Young Player of the Year.

“Leroy has a huge talent and he has not arrived in international matches yet. It was a very close decision,” Löw commented on his decision to drop Sane out of the squad.

Löw’s chosen squad for the World Cup consists of:

Goalkeepers:
Marc-Andre ter Stegen (Barcelona), Kevin Trapp (Paris Saint-Germain) and Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich).

Defenders:
Mats Hummels (Bayern Munich), Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich), Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea), Niklas Sule (Bayern Munich), Matthias Ginter (Borussia Monchengladbach), Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich), Marvin Plattenhardt (Hertha Berlin) and Jonas Hector (FC Koln).

Midfielders:
Julian Brandt (Bayer Leverkusen), Julian Draxler (Paris Saint-Germain), Sami Khedira (Juventus), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City), Leon Goretzka (Schalke), Mesut Ozil (Arsenal), Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund), Sebastian Rudy (Bayern Munich).

Strikers:
