CAIRO – 3 May 2018: Al-Ahly manager Hossam el-Badry announced on Tuesday the team’s squad for the opening game of the CAF Champions League group stage against Tunisia’s Espérance on Friday.

Al-Ahly players hope to reconcile their fans after a disastrous week; they lost the Cairo derby 2-1 to Zamalek on Thursday, before losing the chance to defend their Cup title after their 1-0 loss to Alassiouty on Monday.

Al-Ahly’s squad for the game consists of: Sherif Ekramy, Mohamed El-Shennawy, Ali Lotfi, Ahmed Fathi, Mohamed Hany, Bassem Ali, Sabry Rahil, Ali Maaloul, Saad Samir, Ayman Ashraf, Mohamed Naguib, Amr Elsolia, Hossam Ashour, Hesham Mohamed, Mido Gaber, Walid Soliman, Ahmed Hamdy, Ahmed Hamoudy, Eslam Mohareb, Karim Nedved, Phakamani Mahlambi, Marwan Mohsen and Salah Mohsen.

Al-Ahly decided to add Mahlambi to their African list to be eligible for the game against Espérance.

Al-Ahly strikers Junior Ajayi and Walid Azaro will miss the game, as they failed to recover from their muscle injuries.

The game starts on Friday at Borg El Arab Stadium at 9:00 PM (CLT).
