CAIRO – 7 April 2018: Egyptian football icon Mohamed Aboutrika has reassured everyone regarding the injury of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who missed out on Liverpool's goalless draw against Everton on Saturday.

“Salah’s absence from the game is a precautionary measure taken by Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp,” said the former Al-Ahly and Egyptian national team player before the match, as he works as a pundit at BeIn Sports channel.

Salah was subbed off in the 52nd minute at Anfield on Wednesday, after he had scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 3-0 win over Pep Guardiola's side in the first leg of the Champions League’s quarter-final.

"I talked to Salah; he doesn’t complain about anything serious. He will be ready for Manchester City," Aboutrika added.

The 25-year-old is now on the top of the Premier League’s goal-scorers’ list with 29 goals, five goals ahead of his nearest competitor, Tottenham Hotspurs’ Harry Kane.

The Egyptian star is about to make several records in the current season of the PL, as he scored the same number of goals as Didier Drogba in one season, and he is not so far from beating Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of being the highest scorer of the Premier League. Ronaldo currently holds the record with 31 goals when he was playing for Manchester United.

Liverpool is set to face Manchester City on Tuesday in the second leg of the Champions League’s quarter-final. The Reds have to defend their three-goal advantage in order to qualify to the semi-final for the first time since 2008.
