CAIRO – 19 March 2018: Real Sociedad announced on Monday that the club has ended its contract with club manager Eusebio Sacristan after the team’s 2-1 loss to Getafe at home on Saturday.

“The club would like to thank Eusebio Sacristan for his hard work, professionalism and conduct as manager of the first team over these years. We wish him all the best in his future professional and personal endeavors,” Real Sociedad’s statement said.

Real Sociedad is placed 15th in the Spanish League, known as La Liga. They have picked up 33 points from nine victories and six draws, while they lost 14 games this season.

“Imanol Alguacil will be the man in charge of the team until the end of the season,” Real Sociedad’s statement added.

Alguacil is a former Real Sociedad player and the current manager of Real Sociedad’s B team.

Sacristan, 53, was appointed as manager of Real Sociedad in November 2015 to succeed David Moyes, who was sacked.

Sacristan led the club to achieve the sixth position in 2017 and reach the UEFA Europa League qualifications.
