CAIRO – 6 March 2018: Al Ahly face Uganda’s Nkumba at Women's African Volleyball Clubs Championship opening game on Tuesday at 6 PM at Abdulla Al faysal halls. Al Ahly hosts the competition from March 6 - 15.
Al Ahly’s president, Mahmoud el Khatib, invited Cairo Governer Atef Abdel Hamid and Minister of Sports and Youth Khaled Abdel Aziz to attend the tournament’s opening ceremony.

The tournament’s draw, held on Monday, put Al Ahly in Group A alongside Uganda’s Nkumba, Cameroon’s Nyong and Rwanda’s Revenue.

Al Ahly will face Rwanda’s Revenue on Thursday before ending the group stage games on Friday against Nyong.

Al Ahly won a record eight titles and their players hope for a strong start to achieve their ninth title.

The draw put Egypt’s El Sahms at Group C alongside Cameroon’s FAP, Kenya’s Pipeline, Congo’s DGSP and Uganda’s Vision.

El Sahms will open their games at the tournament on Tuesday at 8 PM against Kenya’s Pipeline.

El Sahms lost the 2017 Women's African Volleyball Clubs Championship title to CF de Carthage; they lost to CF de Carthage 3 -2 in the finals.
