CAIRO – 2 March 2018: Barcelona’s midfielder Andres Iniesta acted as a real captain and went to the press zone to send a message of confidence after one of the few disappointments this season.

Barcelona lost two important points in the (1-1) draw against Las Palmas held at Gran Canaria stadium on Thursday night in the 26th round of La Liga.

The stumble was very disappointing as it came just before hosting Atletico Madrid on Sunday at Camp Nou. Barcelona is now on the top of La Liga’s table, but only five points ahead the ‘rojiblancos’, Atlético Madrid.

Hence, Iniesta preferred to turn the page from this moment, stumbling in Gran Canaria, and think about Atletico Madrid’s visit next Sunday: "We must rest and think about Sunday's match against Atletico. A very intense shock awaits us, against a direct rival and we must try to distance ourselves a little more."

Andrés Iniesta avoided criticizing Mateu Lahoz, the match official, but he told the reporters: "I've always said a referee has a difficult job but in the first half we clearly saw their goalkeeper commit a handball so the draw leaves us with a bitter taste."

It is worth mentioning that Barcelona conceded a penalty for the first time in over two years.

The captain preferred to make a critical analysis of the team's game: "Las Palmas did a superb job today and we lacked sharpness in the final third to finish them off. But we are still top of the league even though our lead has been cut down and this result won't change our mentality."
