We must be cautious against Chelsea: Pique

CAIRO – 16 February 2018: Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique believes that the expectations are high for the team this season but he warns his teammates from being overconfident against Chelsea.

“The atmosphere is positive and good around the squad, but we also must be cautious and learn from the experiences of previous years,” Pique told press on Thursday.

Chelsea eliminated Barcelona from 2012 UEFA Champions League semi-finals in after defeating them 1-0 in London in the first leg and they ended the second leg in Barcelona with a 2-2 draw.
Chelsea’s victory over the main contenders, Barcelona led them to win the title by defeating Bayern Munich on Penalties in the final.

Pique added, “as long as you play for Barcelona you are the favourite to win any game and you have the chance to do it. We want to go there to try to win and take the first step towards getting through the tie."

Barcelona travels to face Chelsea on Tuesday February 20 in London before playing the second leg two weeks later in Barcelona.
