CAIRO – 12 January 2018: Al Ahly defeated El Masry 1-0 on Friday night at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium, UAE to achieve their 10th Egyptian Super Cup title. Al Ahly reconciled their fans after they lost the Super Cup to Zamalek last year.

Al Ahly dominated the game from the start and created many chances but El Masry Goalkeeper, Ahmed Masoud was (mostly) on top form, saving all their attempts while El Masry played on counter attacks through Walid Hassan and Eslam Issa but both teams failed to open the score and ended the first half 0-0.

In the second half, Al Ahly striker, Walid Azarro got a yellow card for simulation and Moamen Zakaria replaced Walid Soliman for Al Ahly.

Both teams failed to break the tie in regular time, taking the game to extra time.

The pivotal moment came in the 102nd minute after Masoud failed to properly clear the ball from his area allowing Azarro to score the first goal.

El-Masry players failed to equalize the score in the remaining minutes to end the game 1-0 for Al Ahly.

Al Ahly players continued their amazing week by winning the Egyptian Super Cup, they also defeated their local rivals, Zamalek 3-0 in the Cairo Derby on Monday.
