CAIRO – 10 January 2018: The UAE Football Federation announced on Wednesday that Emirati referee Ammar El Gonaibi will referee the Egyptian Super Cup game between Al-Ahly and Al-Masry on Friday. Ahmed El Rashdu and Gassem Abdallah will be the assistant referees in the game.

Al-Ahly will play the game after they won the double last season, while Al-Masry will appear for the first time in the Super Cup after being the Egyptian Cup runner up last year.

Al-Ahly players hope to continue their amazing run after they defeated their local rivals, Zamalek, 3-0 on Monday in the Egyptian League.

Al-Ahly trained for the first time in the UAE on Wednesday at Mohamed ben Tahnoun Stadium with all their available players. Al-Ahly coach Hossam el-Badry allowed the media to attend the first 20 minutes of the training session.

Al-Ahly will miss their defender Ramy Rabia, as he picked up an injury during the game against Zamalek and left the game 30 minutes before the final whistle.

Al-Ahly President Mahmoud El Khatib will travel to the UAE to support the team in the game.
