CAIRO – 1 January 2018: The accumulation of matches took its toll on Manchester City. One of Manchester City’s stars, the Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, fell injured in the duel against Crystal Palace and left the stadium in tears.

The forward noticed discomfort in his left knee and, after being treated by the doctors, they declared that he could not continue.

He was able to leave Selhurst Park stadium on his own two feet, but he could not help breaking into tears on the way to the locker room.

Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne, who has been instrumental to City's success this season, suffered the injury after a collision with Crystal Palace’s Jason Puncheon in stoppage time at Selhurst Park and left the pitch on a stretcher, with his right leg in a brace, according to Reuters.

After the game, Manchester City’s coach Pep Guardiola confirmed to the press that Gabriel will be out of the team for two months.

This way, Gabriel will miss one of the most decisive stages of the season. At least he will be out of the next 11 matches, in all competitions, which will include the first leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout round against Basel.

Sergio Agüero will be the only center forward available to Guardiola.
