CAIRO – 25 December 2017 : Al-Ahly lost two points in the Egyptian League title race after their game against Wadi Degla on Monday night ended with a 1-1 draw.

Al-Ahly started the game with their Tunisian left back, Ali Maaloul, who returned to the team after missing games over the last two months.

Al-Ahly failed to create many chances in the first half except a free kick from Ali Maaloul, which passed above the post to end the first half with a goalless draw.

In the second half, al-Ahly got a penalty after 15 minutes when Wadi Degla’s defense tackled al-Ahly striker Walid Azarro. Abdallah El Said opened the score from the penalty spot to make it 1-0 for al-Ahly.

Ahmed El Shenawy equalized for Wadi Degla only seconds later after his shot deflected by al-Ahly captain Hossam Ashour to make the result 1-1.

Both teams failed to score the winning goal in the remaining minutes, ending the game with a draw.

Al-Ahly stayed second in the league with 30 points, four points behind the leaders, Ismaily, but al-Ahly still has two postponed games to play.
