Al-Ahly ladies win Arab Volleyball Clubs Championship

CAIRO – 23 December 2017 : Al-Ahly ladies defeated GS Pétroliers 3-0 on Friday night in the Arab Volleyball Clubs Championship final held at the indoor halls of Cairo Stadium.

Al-Ahly won the sets 25-17, 25-23 and 25-13 respectively to achieve the title after they won all their games in the tournament.

Al-Ahly had an amazing run in the competition. They defeated Egypt’s Sporting in the opening game 3-0, before defeating Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien 3-0. They also defeated Sudan’s Shaba Sahaf 3-0 on Thursday.

Al-Ahly fans packed the stadium to support their team in the presence of al-Ahly President Mahmoud El Khatib.

Al-Ahly manager Hamdy El Safy depended on Nahla Hassan, Farida El Asklany, Maryam Mostafa and Rana El Gohary to break the Algerian defense.

Al-Ahly won their 8th title in the competition, making them the team with the most titles in the competition.

Cairo Stadium hosted the competition from December 17-22, 2017.
