CAIRO – 21 December 2017: Former Barcelona captain Xavi Hernandez believes Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde added more quality to the team and that they are the favorites to win the next clash against Real Madrid.

“Valverde has given them offensive football, a nd they pressure well and aim to always have possession of the ball. We will see how Madrid plays, and at times they are fine with not having control of the ball. Barcelona, on the other hand, will want to dominate definitely,” Xavi told Marca on Wednesday.

Valverde led Barcelona to a stunning run this season. They never lost a game, and they are leading the Spanish League with six points.

Xavi spoke about the upcoming game against Real Madrid and its impact on the title race, saying, “Barcelona are solid, and they are well placed to win (the Clasico), which would practically rule Madrid out of contention for the title.”

Real Madrid hosted Barcelona on Saturday in a game known as the Clasico. Barcelona are 11 points ahead of their opponent.
