CAIRO – 20 December 2017: The Spanish League (La Liga) is going to bid farewell to 2017 in a spectacular way, with the ‘Clasico’ between Real Madrid - FC Barcelona on Saturday, which in football nowadays is the most expected match in the world.

There are many stars that give brilliance to this encounter, but without a doubt it is the duel between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

If the rivalry between Ronaldo and Messi has a planetary dimension it is because they compete on all fronts for the most important titles and awards, fueling that eternal struggle between Real Madrid and Barcelona that all soccer fans have already made.

In the personal case Ronaldo-Messi, that dialectic is produced year after year for a decade in the Ballon d`Or and the Golden Boot. The fight for the awards and the world recognition will continue in Real Madrid - Barcelona this Saturday at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium because both (Ronaldo and Messi) face a new challenge:

proclaiming themselves the World's top scorer of the year 2017.

At the moment, Messi and Ronaldo lead the scorers list along with Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich with 53 goals in 54 games, taking into account their matches with their clubs and with their national teams. Messi has played 63 games and Ronaldo has played 59 games.

The three strikers have one game remaining in 2017, the ‘Clasico’ one for Ronaldo and Messi, and Lewandowski has the (Bayern Munich-Borussia Dortmund) clash in the German Cup (DFP Cup).

The three strikers are followed closely by Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain, with 52 goals in 61 games and pending (PSG – Caen) in the French League (Ligue 1) on December 20; and Harry Kane from Tottenham, with 50 goals in 50 games and with two English Premier League games remaining against Burnley (December 23) and Southampton (December 26).
