CAIRO – 17 November 2017 : Manchester United former English defender, Rio Ferdinand praised Barcelona Argentinean star, Lionel Messi, he described him as the best ever he played against.

“He's the best player I've ever played against. In our dressing room, we all thought that without Messi, we would probably have won those games against Barcelona." Ferdinand told press on Friday.

Ferdinand has played many times against Lionel Messi when Manchester United faced Barcelona at UEFA Champions League.

In 2008, Ferdinand was happy after they eliminated Barcelona in UEFA Champions League semi final but in 2009 and 2011 Messi led Barcelona to beat Manchester United in Champions League final.

Ferdinand added “I tried to hit him in the chest with my arm and he just went underneath me and I thought to myself, 'this guy is a magician',"

Ferdinand revealed his opinion about Manchester two biggest clubs’ managers, Pep Guardiola in City and Jose Mourinho in United, he said “As a defender, it would be Jose because he would protect me well, but to enjoy it, then it would be Pep.”
