CAIRO – 15 November 2017: Athletic Bilbao announced on Wednesday that the team have reached an agreement with their 36-year-old striker Aritz Aduriz to renew his contract with the club till 2019. This announcement means that Aduriz will stay with the club until he becomes 38.

“I am very happy, satisfied and grateful to Athletic Club, I consider this club my family,” Aduriz told press on Wednesday.

Aduriz, born in San Sebastián in Basque, joined Bilbao when he was 19 years old and stayed with the club for four years. He failed to earn a regular place in the club’s starting line-up.

Aduriz added, “I am grateful to be able to play one more year."

Aduriz left Bilbao in 2004 to play for Burgos in 2004 and Valladolid in 2005. He returned again to Bilbao in 2006 but left in 2008 to join Mallorca and Valencia for two years each.

Aduriz returned again to Bilbao in 2012 to spend his best days with football inside the club, scoring more than 80 goals.
