What Shikabala has done to be in the national team

CAIRO – 31 October 2017: Hector Cuper decided to enlist Mahmoud Abdel Razek Shikabala into the Egyptian national team for their match in the last round of the African World Cup qualifiers. Egypt Today is looking at Shikabala’s statistics with his current team Al-Raed.

Cuper decided to return former Zamalek star and current Saudi Arabia’s Al-Raed attacking midfielder Shikabala, to the Pharaohs’ team again after 1,147 days of absence, as part of the squad for the Ghana match scheduled for November 12 in the final round of the African qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The last appearance of Shikabala with the national team was under the leadership of Shawqi Gharib, the former manager of the team, against Tunisia in their match on September 10, 2014 in the qualifiers for the 2015 African Cup of Nations. Egypt lost 1-0 and the former Zamalek striker played for only 18 minutes of the game.

Egypt Today looks at Shikabala’s most prominent achievements with Al-Raed, which drew Cuper’s attention:
- Six matches.
- Five-hundred and twenty minutes.
- Four goals.
- Two assists.
On Tuesday, Al-Raed congratulated Shikabala via Twitter on being called to the national team.
