CAIRO – 30 October 2017: Ernesto Valverde, FC Barcelona coach, is already making history in Barcelona. Valverde, with his team’s victory against Athletic Bilbao in San Mamés, has managed to make the best start in the history of the League as Barcelona has gone 10 rounds undisputed.

Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao 2-0 on Saturday in the 10th round of the Spanish League (La Liga) thanks to Lionel Messi and Jose Paulinho.

Barcelona, leader of the 2017/2018 Santander League, has nine victories and a draw in these first ten rounds.

This streak has not been achieved in the league since the 2013/2014 season, when the Argentinean Gerardo Tata Martino was Barcelona`s coach.

Tito Vilanova, former Barcelona coach, is the only other coach to have led the team to such a streak in the competition.

On the Madrid side, there are two similar situations. Real Madrid did it in the 1968/1969 and 1991/1992 seasons.

On the other hand, Valverde had his first win in San Mamés on Sunday. This victory surely will be remembered by Valverde for a long time.
