CAIRO – 15 October 2017: The third division Argentinean team Sacachispas players wore Masks of Lionel Messi’s face before their training to thank the player for leading Argentina to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Argentina’s captain, Messi, scored all three goals in Argentina’s 3-1 victory over Ecuador to secure a place for Argentina in the World Cup after the team suffered during the qualifiers.

Argentina’s press was divided about Messi’s performance before the game; many of them attacked the player saying he is not playing with the national team like he plays with his club, Barcelona, while the other side supported Messi saying he is the only hope for the national team to qualify for the World Cup.
Messi never won a major tournament with Argentina’s first team and the player hopes to lead the team to a World Cup victory in Russia.
Argentina played three finals in the last 4 years, but lost all of them; they lost the 2014 World Cup final 1-0 to Germany, lost the 2015 and 2016 Copa America finals to Chile by penalties.
