CAIRO – 03 October 2017: Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager, surprised the press with surreal statements about FC Barcelona and a possible independence of Catalonia once the game finished against Brighton in the Premier League. Wenger spoke of the possibility of Barcelona playing the Premier League if Catalonia declares independence.

"I will try to learn Catalan, and if Barcelona wants to play the Premier League, it will make the title even more difficult for all of us," said Wenger, who acknowledged that "I do not think they will reach that point."

"This is an interesting situation as it develops and will have a sporting impact. Barcelona is a highly political club," said the French coach.

Nevertheless, within the surprising declarations, Wenger also remembered that they must invite Celtic Glasgow and Glasgow Rangers if Scotland became independent. "I think we have enough teams with 20, but if we want to reach the 24 before, we should welcome the Scots than the Spaniards," said Wenger.
