CAIRO – 29 September 2017: England national team manager, Gareth Southgate added Manchester City midfielder, Fabian Delph to the English squad who will meet Slovenia and Lithuania in 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.

“We think he is a really good player. He was a very important player for a period with Roy Hodgson. He has been unfortunate with injuries.” Southgate told press.

Fabian Delph, 27 was among England provisional squad for UEFA EURO 2016 under England former manager, Roy Hodgson but he missed the final squad for injury.

Southgate revealed his reasons for Delph’s inclusion; he said “we have got a situation in midfield where we need to have more competition for places and more alternatives.”

Southgate explained Delph’s situation with his club, he said “He is obviously at a club where chances have been a little bit limited but he has dug in, forced his way into their side and he is playing well.”

Fabian Delph got his first International call from England first team in 2014 against Norway and since then he played 9 games with the English National Team, according to thefa.com
