CAIRO – 28 September 2017: Real Madrid announced on Thursday that the club has reached an agreement with the Spanish midfielder, Marco Asensio to extend his contract with the club until 2023.

“Real Madrid C. F. and Asensio have agreed an extension to the player's contract, binding him to the club until the 30th of June 2023.” Real Madrid statement said.

Asensio, 21 is a RCD Mallorca academy product, he joined the club when he was 10 and he got promoted through the club rankings till he joined the first team in 2013.

One year with Mallorca’s first team was enough for the Spanish youngster to get the attention of biggest clubs in Europe but the player’s desire was to join Real Madrid in 2014.

Madrid loaned Asensio to Mallorca in 2015 and Espanyol in 2016 before returning to Real Madrid to make history with the club.

Asensio won 2017 La Liga title, 2016 and 2017 UEFA Super Cup, 2017 Spanish Super Cup, 2017 UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid.

Madrid kept securing the club’s future after extending many players’ contracts in the last two weeks like Marcelo Vieira, Marcos Liorente, Karim Benzema, Dani Carvajal, Francisco Alarcon known as Isco and Raphael Varane.
