CAIRO – 27 September 2017: Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy's injury does not look good. The Manchester City player will travel to Barcelona this week to be visited by Ramon Cugat, Guardiola's trusted doctor, according to English media.

Citizens, Manchester City’s nickname, are not very optimistic about Mendy’s recovery, and they fear that he could have damaged the ligaments of the knee.

The Frenchman was injured in the last Premier League match against Crystal Palace after a hard blow. He was able to leave the field standing on his own feet, but his injury has worried the club enough to send him to Barcelona.

Cugat will determine the diagnosis and procedures to follow regarding his injury. If the ligaments are affected, Manchester City could suffer a big setback. The team’s coach, Pep Guardiola, was relying heavily on Mendy’s recent transfer.

Mendy transferred to the team fir €57 million from Monaco, and despite missing out on the first few matches due to a muscle injury, his adaptation and impact on the team has been remarkable.
In the coming days, the team will officially confirm the extent of the player's injury.
