CAIRO - 18 September 2017 : Slovenia defeated Serbia 93-85 on Sunday night at the 2017 EUROBASKET Final in Turkey. Slovenia won the title for the first time.


Serbia started the game well, leading in the first quarter 22-20, but Slovenians controlled the second quarter with a great performance on Goran Dragic’s behalf. Slovenia took the lead in the second quarter, ending the first half 56-47.


In the second half, Serbia failed to make a comeback. While they scored more points in the third quarter than Slovenia, by the end of the fourth quarter Slovenia was in the lead 93-85.


Dragic won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award after leading his country to the title by scoring 35 points in the game.


Dragic, 31, was included in the tournament’s All Star Five alongside his teammates in the national team, Luka Dončić, Bogdan Bogdanović from Serbia, Alexey Shved from Russia and the Spanish veteran, Pau Gasol.


On the other hand, Spain won the Bronze medal after beating Russia 93-85.


Turkey, Greece, Finland and Israel hosted the tournament’s group stage, while Turkey hosted the knockout stages of the event.
