CAIRO - 17 September 2017: Barcelona announced on Sunday that their French player, Ousmane Dembele, will go through an operation after the injury he sustained in Saturday’s game against Getafe at the fourth round of Spanish League.


“The tests have come back following first team player Ousmane Dembélé's injury; the French player ruptured his tendon in the femoral bicep in his left thigh and will be operated on by Dr. Sakari Orava in Finland this week,” The Barcelona statement said.


Dembele, 21, got substituted 29 minutes into the Getafe game by Gerard Deulofeu after he complained of an injury in the thigh.


Ousmane Dembele is the highest transfer in Barcelona history when the club signed him from Borussia Dortmund for €105 million ($125 million) this summer.


Barcelona’s statement added, “He is expected to be out for between three and a half months and four months.”


Barcelona tops the Spanish League with 12 points after beating Getafe on Saturday 2-1.
