CAIRO - 4 September 2017: Croatia national team midfielder, Luka Modric issued statements on Monday attacking FIFA policy against football players claiming that FIFA doesn’t care about players getting injured. Modric’s statements came after Croatia 1-0 victory against Kosovo in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.

“Playing on this pitch was dangerous but they do not care if a player is injured, “Modric told the press after the game.

The Croatia-Kosovo game started on Saturday at Zagreb but heavy rain stopped the game at 22 minutes; the game was cancelled and the players were informed that the game will be rescheduled.

“On Saturday night, we were told that we were not going to play. So, we went to bed later than normal, about two or three hours later,” Modric explained.

However, when FIFA informed Croatian officials on Saturday night that the game will be played on Sunday; Modric explained the situation saying, “Sunday morning we had to wake up like we were in the army because we had to play, it wasn't proper preparation for such an important match. FIFA has again demonstrated that they do not care about players so long as the game is played."

In the end, Croatia defeated Kosovo 1-0 thanks to Domajog Vida’s goal; topping the Group with 16 points, two points ahead of Ukraine.
