CAIRO – 27 August 2017: The national women's basketball team won seventh place at the Women’s Afrobasket, hosted by Mali from 18 to 27 August.

The women’s national basketball team, led by Coach Amr Ashour, succeeded in beating Cameroon in the match that determines the seventh and eight places of the tournament. Egypt won with a score of 83/86. The team lost the previous match to determine fifth and eighth place to Ivory Coast, with a score of 90/50, which left the Egyptian women to compete for seventh and eighth place against Cameroon.

The team consists of 16 members with 11 players and 4 members of the technical and medical staff; the Egyptian delegation is headed by Nabil Hafez, member of the Egyptian Volleyball Federation board, and the players are Mai Helwa, Mona Awad, Noor Talaat, Radwa Salem, Reem Osama, Manar Ehab, Miral Ashraf, Israa Maged, Rana Abdel Zaher And Thoraya Abdel Maqsoud.
