CAIRO – 19 August 2017: The Egyptian team seeks to continue their run at FIVB U 23 World Cup when they meet Cuba on Saturday night at Cairo Stadium.

Egypt achieved their first win after a tough game against Japan. Egypt won the game 4-3, while Cuba lost their first game against Poland by 4-1.

Egyptian coach, Marcos Miranda will depend on his best players Hisham Ewais and Ahmed Saber to win the game against the veteran Cuban team.

Egypt shares the top of the group with Poland and Brazil while Cuba shares the bottom with Japan and Mexico.

Egypt plays in Group A alongside Cuba, Mexico, Poland, Japan and Brazil, while the other Arab nation in the tournament, Algeria plays in Group B alongside, China, Iran, Argentina, Turkey and the reigning champion, Russia.

Egyptian coach Marcos Miranda’s squad for the tournament consists of Ahmed Saber ‘Fatouta,’ Ahmed al-Ashry, Hisham Yusry, Omar Saleh, Mohamed Ramadan, Mohamed Mohsen, Ahmed Osama, Abdul Rahman Saudi, Abu al-Said al-Sayed, Ahmed Diaa, Saad Mohsen and Ahmad Galal.

Egypt participated in the competition since its inception in 2013, the team participated in the two former editions in Brazil and UAE, Egypt achieved ninth place in both editions.

Brazil won the first competition in 2013, beating Serbia in the final while Russia won the second edition beating Turkey in the final.

Cairo hosts the third edition of FIVB U 23 World Cup from August 18 to 25 in Cairo Stadium halls complex one and two. Twelve teams will participate in the competition.
