Zamalek achieved their first win in the tournament – Egypt Today

CAIRO - 30 July 2017: Zamalek ended his participation in Arab Club Championship with a 2-1 victory on Saturday over Saudi Arabian club, Al-Nassr, Zamalek won their first match after sacking their former manager Augusto Inacio.

Zamalek started the game trying to cheer their fans after many losses, Hazem Imam scored Zamalek first goal in the first minute, Al-Nassr took only 11 minutes to equalize the score by Leonardo Pereira, but Mahmoud Hamdy scored the second goal at the 37th minute.

Fatih Union from Morocco shared the first position in the group with Al-Ahed from Lebanon with 5 points each, but Fath Union scored more goals so they qualified to the second round as the top of the group, while Zamalek ended the group stage in the third place with four points and Al-Nassr ended their participation at the bottom of the group with only one point.

“It was a tough game against a strong team, We needed that win to raise our spirits before the decisive match against Al-Masry in Egyptian Cup semi-final,” Hazem Imam, Zamalek captain told reporters after the game.
Egypt hosts Arab Club Championship from July 22 to August 5.
