CAIRO, 12 November 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, followed up on the progress of the Egyptian delegation participating in the Islamic Solidarity Games, currently being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 7 to 21.
Dr. Sobhy congratulated the Egyptian athletes, the Egyptian Olympic Committee headed by Eng. Yasser Idris, and all the participating sports federations for their outstanding achievements and for winning 24 medals so far — an impressive feat given that the delegation includes only 81 athletes representing 12 sports federations.
He expressed his pride and appreciation for the accomplishments of Egyptian athletes across all disciplines, emphasizing that these results reflect the strong position and progress of Egyptian sports at both Arab and international levels. He added that such success is a direct result of the continued support of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian state for both individual and team sports.
So far, Egypt ranks third overall among participating nations, after securing 8 gold, 6 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
The gold medals were won by boxer Amir El-Kilany, the women’s table tennis team (Yousra Ashraf, Hend Abdelhalim, and Marwa Hesham), weightlifter Abdelrahman Younes with three golds, judoka Omar El-Ramly in the 100 kg category after defeating the Paris 2024 Olympic champion, and weightlifter Sara Samir, who earned two golds in clean and jerk and an additional gold in total.
The silver medals went to swimmer Abdelrahman Attia (100m backstroke), Farida Osman (50m butterfly and 50m freestyle), Abdelrahman Sameh (50m freestyle), Sara Samir (snatch), and Karim Kahla (weightlifting, 94 kg).
As for the bronze medals, they were earned by boxer Ahmed Heikal, swimmer Abdelrahman Sameh (50m butterfly), weightlifter Nora Essam with three bronzes, judoka Tasneem Roshdy, weightlifter Sayed Aly Attia (two bronzes), judoka Yousry Sami, and Karim Kahla (weightlifting, 94 kg).
