CAIRO, 6 November 2025: Football fans are turning their attention at 5:00 PM today, Thursday (Cairo time), to Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE, where Al Ahly will face Ceramica in the Egyptian Super Cup semi-final.

The winner of this match will meet the victor between Zamalek and Pyramids in the tournament’s final.

The four qualified teams are: Al Ahly (Egyptian Premier League champion), Zamalek (Egypt Cup champion), Ceramica (EFA Cup champion), and Pyramids (league runner-up), who joined via the golden card.

Al Ahly won the last Super Cup edition held in the UAE, defeating Zamalek in a penalty shootout. With 15 titles, Al Ahly is the most successful club in Super Cup history, while Zamalek follows with 4.

The champion of this year’s Egyptian Super Cup, scheduled from November 6–9 in the UAE, will earn $300,000, while the runner-up will receive $200,000. Each participating team (Al Ahly, Zamalek, Pyramids, and Ceramica) receives $50,000 for participation.

After losing twice to Al Ahly in previous Super Cup meetings, Ceramica will aim to reach the final for the first time in its history—especially as Al Ahly’s form has recently declined.

Torup seeks to appease the fans
Danish coach Jess Thorup, Al Ahly’s manager, hopes to win back the supporters’ confidence after two consecutive league draws—1-1 against Petrojet and 0-0 against Al Masry—by leading his team to the Super Cup final, as part of his plan to claim his first trophy with the Red Devils.

Al Ahly’s absences against Ceramica
Al Ahly will miss Emam Ashour, Hussein El Shahat, and Achraf Dari due to injury and lack of match fitness. Thorup is counting heavily on key players such as Zizo, Trezeguet, Bencherki, Gradisar, and goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy to guide the team to glory.

On the other hand, Ceramica—featuring standout players like Amr El Soulia, Saad Samir, Sodiq Egola, and Fakhri Lakay—is performing strongly in the Egyptian Premier League under the impressive coaching of Ali Maher. The team currently leads the standings with 26 points from 12 matches, after recovering from a shaky start that saw them lose 2-0 to Zamalek in their opener.

Coach Ali Maher has urged his players to knock out the defending champions Al Ahly and secure a place in the final, aiming to win Ceramica’s first-ever Super Cup title.
